Symposium Description

Emily Carr (1871-1945) was a B.C. painter and writer, born and raised in Victoria, and perhaps Canada’s most notable artist. "Pacific to Atlantic," dedicated to examining Carr and her legacy, will engage interactions between the vibrant arts and intellectual arts scene of Victoria, B.C., and the equally vibrant scenes here in Corner Brook; the University of Victoria and Grenfell Campus, MUN; different departments at Grenfell Campus; and Indigenous/non-Indigenous perspectives. It will also serve to stimulate and generate more discourse around contemporary and historical art especially in relation to British Columbia and Western Newfoundland.
